Working with Alyssa with Mannerly Mutts has changed our lives for the better in many ways. Living with two large breed dogs, both with naturally strong prey drive, we knew it was important to upgrade our knowledge so we could all flourish as a household.

We learned the skills that we needed to redirect our cane corso pup who had the energy of a caffeine filled bull in a China shop. We learned that we weren’t teaching the dog but training the humans to have the knowledge, confidence and understanding to handle any situation.

Our Golden Retriever, Kevin was a mess before we started training with Mannerly Mutts. He jumped on people, he pulled on his leash, he had no idea what recall was and had absolutely no boundaries.

After a handful of one one one sessions, Kevin is now on his way to becoming the perfect dog. It's actually exciting to take him on walks around the neighbourhood knowing that he's not going to knock someone over when he greets them. I can have Kevin off leash in a large area knowing that as soon as I call him, he'll come running and, although he still wants all of the attention from everyone, he's more polite in asking for it.

Alyssa also gave me the confidence I needed by customizing a training program that suits our needs around the home and in public. We now have the necessary tools to continue training by ourselves and my husband and I are so proud of the dog he's become. Alyssa has also encouraged us to work towards our goal of training Kevin towards becoming a therapy dog for the elderly and young children.

There's nobody else we trust more with our dog and I can't thank Mannerly Mutts enough for putting us on the right path.

Just a couple of months ago my pup Lucy could hardly be in a room with both our cats without growling or lunging at them. Now, with so much help from Alyssa, we can all hangout in the same room together. We still have lots of work to do but I am finally seeing the light at the end of the tunnel and it makes me so happy! Without Alyssa's help I would be completely lost on how to train Lucy and how to move forward with her resource guarding. I could not recommend her more.

I adopted a rescue dog that had fended for herself and three pups in northern Saskatchewan. She had led an incredibly hard life to say the least. She had no social structure, extreme fear aggression, and pretty much zero recall. Our walks were nightmares where she would lunge at dogs we met, or if she was off leash and we unexpectedly encountered a dog, she would then “explode” and attack unrelentingly. It became a nightmare to walk her anywhere and ultimately we would both come home frustrated. If she got out of the house she would ignore my calls and be gone for hours. I was at wits end!

I saw the posting for Mannerly Mutt’s three day boot camp and secured her session. After a careful evaluation at the boot camp - I was given a list of recommendations especially tailored for my dog. I followed them to the detail! Fast forward to today and my gal and I are in pack walks, hiking off-leash, and strolling by other dogs on walkways. Our walks are calm and truly enjoyable, her recall is amazing and we enjoy many hikes together. Mannerly Mutts boot camp was a total game changer for BOTH of us! She’s now a confident dog and I have an understanding of her needs. Loved this boot camp with Mannerly Mutts and what it’s done for Lucy and I! Thank you for providing us with such great structure!
